Description

Job Summary: 

  • Provides direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction of Psychiatric Care Unit Nursing Staff
  • Assists patients with  activities of daily living, provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for an assigned group of patients

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent, is required

Required Certifications:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer
  • Handle With Care Behavior Management System (HWC) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer
  • Blood Glucose Monitoring Training Program Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer

Skills:

  • Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific area of work
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to communicate effectively and demonstrate service excellence through appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques when confronted with different situations; use of effective communication skills which foster positive outcomes
  • Able to function independently and exercise judgment in interactions with physicians, interprofessional care team, and patients and their families
  • Capable of being flexible and organized
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Strong written and verbal skills
