To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

·Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

·Interacts professionally with patients/families; treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.

·Effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers, demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes.

·Perform an appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the care requested in accordance with protocol and procedures. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric patients and the general patient population.

·Provides specific assessments,clinicalcompetenceinproceduralskills,treatments,andpatient/caregivereducationrelatedtocare.

·Interpret data regarding the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.

·Maintains accurate and continued documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes. Documentation meets current standards and policies.

·Follows the six (6) medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.

·Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.

·Consults other healthcareproviders as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and clinic needs.

·Applies principles of sterile techniques and infection control procedures.

·Abletomanageanumberofpatientsatthesametimewithhighenergyandorganization.

·Greets patients and prepares them for their examination.

·Assists in orientation and training of new staff/students as necessary.

·Keeps current with principles and practices, regulations, and standards that apply to healthcare.

·Providesefficientandeffectivecarewiththeguidanceofthephysician.

·Assist physicians with procedures, as needed.

·Screens, communicates and responds to patient needs appropriately.

·Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.

·Acts as patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patient care for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

·Performs other reasonably related job duties as assigned or requested, within scope of practice.


Qualifications

Education:

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Required Licenses:

Must have a current Mississippi Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license.

Required Certifications:

·American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.

Required Skills:

Requirements will include successful completion of orientation checklist and skills/credentials/competency requirements of specific area of work.

  • Demonstrates the values of team concept on a consistent basis.
  • Focused on prioritizing the patients clinical experience, maintaining a high awareness of satisfaction.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multi-task, while demonstrating proficient time management skills.
  • Self-starter who needs no reminders of duties and tasks that need to be completed.
  • Able to respond to and cope with emergency situations professionally and calmly.
  • Focused, patient and calm, performing well under pressure in a stressful environment and able to take appropriate action.
  • Must be flexible, responding to changes in work schedule, able to work as needed for appropriate coverage.
  • Must possess knowledge of computer operations in the use of word processing, email, electronic medical records, and other similar software as required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting resident or employee safety or security. Additional languages preferred.
