The work location for this position is Lewiston, Idaho

Full-Time: 80-hrs per pay period

Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting in clinical care of the patient in pre-op holding room.  Position is also responsible for assisting anesthesia to replenish supplies, maintenance of anesthesia cart and assist with patient care.  Responsible for transporting of inpatients to surgery.

Primary (Essential) Duties:

  • Direct Patient Care:
    • Provide physical and emotional comfort and safety for patient.
    • Assists with patient ambulation, transporting or transferring patient using wheelchair or wheeled stretchers and with moving and positioning patients.
    • Understands and adheres to aseptic and sterile technique with regard to setting up block trays.
    • Assists Anesthesia with epidural placement.
    • Assists RN with pre-operative patient care.
    • Enters treatment requests into order/entry computer module.
    • Assists with Arterial lines, CVP lines and Hot line set ups
    • Transports patients from nursing units to the operating room.
  • Indirect patient care
    • Moves equipment and/or assists with cleaning of equipment, as directed.  Observes for and returns property and equipment to appropriate department.
    • Restocks and cleans anesthesia machines.
    • Contributes to overall efficiency of department by assisting in stocking shelves, supply cupboards, organizing charts, answering telephone.
    • Maintains professional demeanor and respects patient confidentiality.
    • Assists with procurement of History and Physical and other documents as deemed necessary for the patient’s chart.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma, or GED
  • Completed a CNA program or equivalent medical technology education and/or experience
  • Current Idaho CNA Certification
  • Possess the appropriate knowledge and skills to work in an environment where there is a potential of contact with communicable diseases, odors, fumes and other biohazard
  • Possess the ability to communicate orally and in writing; must be willing/able to adapt method to effectively communicate with patients, family and other members of the health care team.

Preferred:

  • 3-yrs of experience in a health care facility, in a role which includes demonstrated awareness and competence in asepsis and handling of instruments and/or medical equipment.
