Logan Regional Medical Center is a 132-bed acute care facility in Logan, West Virginia. The hospital offers a full range of health care services in a recently expanded facility. A renovated $1.1 million Physical Rehabilitation Unit opened in 2003. A $20 million Emergency Department and Facility Renovation, completed in 2005, added approximately 42,000 square feet to the facility and renovated approximately 8,000 square feet within the existing hospital. The Emergency Department includes 22 rooms, a portable X-ray unit, a CAT scan, a portable ultrasound, X-ray rooms and three trauma rooms. The second floor includes the Women’s Center, with three labor and delivery suites, a staging area and a nine-bed nursery with the latest in safety and LDR security features. PACS Technology, which allows physicians in the Emergency Department to make consultations 24 hours a day with radiologists at other facilities across the country, has also been installed. JOB SUMMARY Examines patients with breathing-related conditions and conducts diagnostic testing. Consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient. Performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications. Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
Monitors, receives, stocks, and distributes respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
Maintains storage areas with required supply levels and equipment.
Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment, and performs preventative maintenance and calibration of machines.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
□ Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
□ Basic Life Support (BLS) required to be obtained within 30 days of hire
□ Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Preferred
□ Certified Respiratory Therapist required to be obtained within 30 days of hire
